The year 2025 marked a period of growth for the Foundation’s activities, with an increase in both the number of affiliated companies and the number of product groups certified under the RETRAY SCHEME procedures.
The FOUNDATION not only had a presence in various recognised fields linked to the Circular Economy of thermoformed PET packaging (PetCore Europe in Brussels and Dijon, EA, the European Accreditation Association, CEN / CENELEC for the development of standardisation rules regarding recycled content and Design for Recyclability, etc.), but the Retray Scheme procedures, accredited by ENAC and, by extension, by EA, had a positive influence on the design of these standardisation rules.
During 2025, European PET recycling companies faced challenges arising from imports of virgin and flake PET at lower prices, and this marked the start of an in-depth analysis of the consequences of the implementation of Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on packaging and packaging waste, known as the PPWR, and its development through delegated acts.
For the Foundation, it also marked the milestone of registering the trademark in the United Kingdom and Turkey, with the aim of expanding the RETRAY brand’s footprint in those countries where it was not previously protected.
A year in which eco-modulation mechanisms in Europe continued to expand and the demand for accredited certifications of post-consumer recycled content, under the umbrella of POLYCERT EUROPE, such as RETRAY, set out on a path that is consolidating during the first half of 2026.
