Campofrío Food Group, whose refrigerated pizzas are among the best-selling products of the brand and is one of the best-known multinational companies in the food industry, has positioned itself as the first company in the refrigerated pizzas sector to obtain the ECOSENSE certificate. This guarantees that the PET food trays where the pizzas are packaged incorporate recycled material from the production or use waste of the sheet and/or tray itself.
To obtain the ECOSENSE certificate, Campofrío’s facilities located in Ólvega (Soria) have undergone the inspection process carried out by an entity accredited by ENAC under the ISO/IEC 17020 standard, which verifies compliance with the requirements established in the corresponding procedures from the Plastic Sense Foundation.
Campofrío has experienced a great growth in the recent years. The ECOSENSE certification is the initiative from the Plastic Sense Foundation to consolidate a circular economy model in the PET food tray sector. It is aimed to sheet and PET tray producers, as well as food packers, who recycle their industrial and post-industrial multilayer waste and reintroduce recycled PET from delamination processes as secondary raw material in their production processes.
