ENPLATER ALTA SEGARRA, S.L, rigid PET sheet manufacturer for the food industry with recycled content, has achieved the RETRAY BRAND of the ECOSENSE FOUNDATION after passing the first accredited certification audit, demonstrating the use of post-consumer recycled tray in its processes.
The ENPLATER ALTA SEGARRA production centre, located in Sant Pere Salla Vinera, Barcelona, was inaugurated at the end of 2023 and specialises in the production of rigid APET packaging film. This confirms the company’s commitment to the circular economy of PET packaging.
RETRAY certifies the percentage of recycled content in the product (PET film) according to the UNE-EN 15343:2008 standard. This allows European film manufacturers marketing their products in Spain to deduct the amount of recycled plastic from the tax base (0.45€/kg) established for non-reusable packaging in Law 7/2022 on waste, which came into force in January 2024.
RETRAY enables compliance with the requirements regarding the communication of explicit environmental claims established by the new Green Claims Directive. It stipulates that such claims must be certified by conformity assessment bodies accredited according to Regulation (EC) No 765/2008, such as the certification bodies authorised to audit in the RETRAY scheme under ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation.
The RETRAY Scheme certifies the total recycled content, post-consumer and pre-consumer and from both tray-to-tray and other sources of recycled materials, facilitating access to SCRAP tariff rebates for food packers.
